BEE Basics

There are 3 basic categories of BEE:

  1. EME- Exempt Micro Enterprise- Turnover is under R10m a year.
  2. QSE- Qualifying Small Enterprise- Turnover between R10m and R50m.
  3. Generic Organisation- Turnover is over R50m. All generic organisations are assessed against the Generic scorecard.

Note: If you fall within an industry charter, the above thresholds may differ.

Priority Elements:

  • Ownership, Skills Development, Enterprise and Supplier Development are Priority Elements.

  • For a QSE you need to reach the minimum on Ownership and 1 other Priority element to avoid being discounted by one level.
  • Generic organisations must comply to the minimum on ALL Priority Elements to avoid being discounted.
