SETA Compliance

Qualifying Small Enterprises (QSE`s) and Generic entities MUST have a SETA (Sector Education Training Authority) approved WSP (Workplace Skills Plan) in order to access any points under the Skills Development element of the scorecard.

Who has to pay skills development levies?

Any company with an annual payroll of R500 000.00 or more
Where are levies paid?
Levies are paid to SARS, who in turn transfers them to DHET; DHET then transfers them to the relevant SETA

What percentage is paid to SARS?
1 percent of the annual payroll is paid to SARS

To claim back the 20% for mandatory grants employers have to submit a Workplace Skills Plan and an Annual Training Report on or before 30 April of each year.
